Why Heat Is So Dangerous To Chickens

Chickens don’t sweat.
To cool down they rely on panting, wing-spreading and heat loss through their combs and wattles. On extreme days, that’s often not enough.

Hot weather can lead to:

  • Open-mouth breathing + panting

  • Lethargy, wobbling, collapse

  • Dehydration and electrolyte imbalance

  • Reduced egg production

  • In severe cases, sudden death during peak heat

Good husbandry is essential, but many owners still lose birds in heatwaves. That’s why a supportive summer routine matters.

What you are waiting for

A Natural Heat-Support Blend Just for Chickens

I’m currently finalising a herbal summer support formula created specifically to help chickens build greater heat resilience- their natural ability to cope with rising temperatures before they reach the point of distress.

Heat resilience isn’t about masking symptoms.
It’sfocusing on supporting the systems that help chickens stay steadier for longer when the heat climbs.

This blend is being formulated to:

  • Support circulation and peripheral cooling, helping the body release heat more effectively

  • Support respiratory comfort, so panting is less taxing during hot periods

  • Support a calm, balanced stress response, which can help birds cope better in extreme conditions

  • Offer antioxidant and cellular support when heat places additional strain on the body

  • Promote overall resilience, helping birds tolerate hot weather with greater stability

This is a proactive summer support tool. Something you use before and during heatwaves to help your flock manage heat more naturally.
It isn’t an emergency or crisis treatment, but an extra layer of protection alongside good husbandry such as shade, airflow, cool water, and early heat-wave preparation.

Waitlist members will be the first to access the new blend.

FAQ

Is the product available yet?
Not yet. It’s currently in the final formulation stage, and being field tested to ensure no egg taste taint. Waitlist members will be notified first.

Will this prevent heatstroke?
No product can guarantee prevention. This blend is designed as a supportive tool used alongside smart heat management. We use this to help improve heat resiliance, and support recovery after a heatwave

How will it be given?
The plan is a feed-added herbal blend, but specifics will be confirmed to the waitlist as development continues.

Is it safe for laying hens?
Yes! The formulation is being designed specifically with laying hens in mind. Some feed additives can taint the flavour of eggs, so a we are currently undertaking feed tests to ensure this doesnt happen.  Full guidance will be provided before launch.

Can I use it for ducks or quail?
The first version is for chickens. More species guidance may be added later.
